The Shack
I've just finished reading The Shack, now for the 2nd time and am truly blessed by this book. I had the opportunity to hear the author speak about it last night and was blown away by his testimony.
The Shack was originally written as a request from the author's wife to record for his children the things that God had been teaching him and healing him from. So, honoring his wife, Paul Young, set out to write 11 years of his life into story format. Not wanting to bore his children with 11 years of history, he combined all of the lessons into a weekend spent with God by the main character of the book, Mackenzie.
This book has been quite controversial among "religious" people, but the thousands and thousands of testimonies of people touched and healed by God speak to the power of God behind the book. The power/ life of God within the book can also be seen in that this man wrote a story for his children and God, Himself, provided amazingly for this book to be spread in millions of copies throughout the world!
Whether you agree with all points of this man's theology or not, you owe it to yourself to check out this book about a relational God, who will invade our world, invade our preconceived ideas about Him, and come into our deepest pain, shame, and sadness and heal us completely!

Excellent book. We listened to it on C.D. on vacation last summer and it is tranformative. I've heard the Father is quite fond of you.
